For Miriam Cushen, wool is the family business and an ancient tradition. There have been Cushens weaving woolens in their corner of southeast Ireland since 1778, and their mill is on a site where yarns and textiles have been made for more than 800 years. Miriam learned the craft from her father and is involved in all parts of it, from meeting with sheep farmers to weaving and finishing. “Our textiles are lifelong pieces,” she says, “connected to centuries of knowledge through passion and warmth.”
